Original Abstract

Cogeneration units with combustion engine appears more often today as small sources of electrical power working to low voltage distribution line or as autonomy power source in an insular mains. For a small units an asynchronous generators are often used, which has simpler construction and they are cheaper from synchronous machines. This paper describes a simple simulation of the asynchronous generator running with the piston combustion engine as source of torque, which is not a time stable source of power due to piston linear to rotation motion conversion and four cycle machine principle. This unstable running caused some interaction in the electric current of the generator and also measuring shown that there is a nonlinearity and harmonic distortion of the current. Simulation should validate this phenomena and show the way to decrease this effect.
