Original Abstract

Ventilation of flats is indispensable part of the field of ventilation and air conditioning. Ventilation of flats involves simple systems of natural ventilation, ventilation with forced supply and natural exhaust and ventilation with forced exhaust and natural supply. The primary role of ventilation is to provide hygienically clean indoor climate in residential buildings. Individual kinds of ventilation of flats have their specific advantages and disadvantages considering the quality of indoor climate. The goal of this article is to enlarge the general knowledge necessary for correct choice of ventilation and air conditioning systems in the field of ventilation of flats. We will show flow diagrams of chosen "low cost" VAC systems on typical flat simulated with help of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software Fluent. Particularly it is natural ventilation, ventilation with forced supply and natural exhaust and ventilation with forced exhaust and natural supply. Obtained results will point out the difficulties while designing the required indoor climate.
