Original Abstract

A qualitative analysis of the flow in curvilinear coordinates was caaried out to pinpoint the main features which influencethe development of the shear layers. It has been concluded that the shape of the wall, velocity gradient perpendicular to the flow, inlet velocity profile and streamline curvature are the key parameters governing draft tube performance.
