Original Abstract

This contribution presents an application of the CFD approach for assessing suitability of a Venturi nozzle, placed into the throat of a filter bag in a fabric filter. The filter is employed for collection of particulate matter from flue gas in a municipal waste incineration plant and it is necessary to clean it regularly. The cleaning is performed periodically by pulse jet method. The analysis examined the influence of the Venturi nozzle for quality of filter cleaning as well as pressure drop caused by the nozzle during normal filter operation. A commercial CFD software system FLUENT has been used for all the computations.
