Original Abstract

Weaning is one of the most important periods of pig production. The transition to solid food is usually accompanied by stress and marked changes in both gastrointestinal physiology, microbiology and immunology. Thus, weaners are more susceptible to intestinal infections associated with diarrhoea, resulting in a decreased performance.
