Original Abstract

Operation of any fluid device outside of its design point is usually accompanied by unwanted effects like boundary layer separation, flow recirculation, flow instabilities, pressure pulsations, increased level of noise and vibrations. With growing emphasize on operation of fluid machines and devices in broad operating range it becomes inevitable to manipulate the flow and suppress the undesired phenomena. Overview of methods, which are basis for flow controller that might be applied in hydraulic machinery (reduced order models based on proper orthogonal decomposition or models arising from artificial intelligence) is provided. Example of such model, based on decomposition methods and Galerkin projection is presented. This model enables to comprise whole flow dynamics in several tens or hundreds ordinary differential equations, thereby creating a fast, efficient, yet sufficiently accurate decsription of the flow within whole domain of interest.
