Original Abstract

Paper describes assessment of shear resistance of the interface between two concrete layers without shear reinforcement. In order to specify behavior or concrete-to-concrete interface, failure modes of the interface without reinforcement are defined and described, together with proposed design expressions. Furthermore, experimental and numerical investigation is performed, in order to confirm introduced hypothesis. Direct shear test and push-off tests were performed on specimen with different concrete strength resp. variable surface roughness obtained by mainly used methods of surface preparation. Finally, extended design approach, which includes the effects of concrete strengths, surface roughness, collateral effects of surface preparation and effects of fire, is developed and presented in this paper.
