Original Abstract

A QoS evaluation in trunked radio networks usually demands a long-term measurement. The measurement is affected by the high cost and complexity of the hardware required. The paper deals with proposing an SDL model covering communication in the general trunked radio network. Using this SDL model, a communication can be simulated without any hardware implementation. The simulation results obtained can be easily used for estimating QoS parameters, setting service thresholds and, consequently, for classifying service availability. An example of using the SDL model is presented in the paper. The example covers evaluating the selected QoS parameters related to communication initiation between trunked radio network and IP network.
