Original Abstract

Advanced communication networks contain besides to other parts also switches. These networks and by it also switches must guarantee Quality of Service (QoS) and a comparison of switch controlling alternatives is a content and relevance of this paper. A switch architecture, relationship to ISO/OSI model, frames and packets structures and QoS reservation by Differen- tiated Services Code Point (DSCP) are described here. In this paper are designed and simulated two alternatives applicable for switch controlling — classical method and using of neural net- work for this purpose. Both models are simulated by MATLAB-SIMULINK environment.
