Original Abstract

The main goal of this study is to determine how different magnitudes of harmonic distortion may influence the operation, more specifically, the tripping time of the most used digital protection relays. This paper describes the basic theory of protection function with harmonic content. Harmonic signal can cause problems in power system and protection relays function due to the voltage magnitude which is used as input in protection relay.
