Original Abstract

Paper presents a new type of hydraulic turbine, so called swirl, which is aimed at utilization of hydro energetic potential of locations with very low head (1-6 meters). The turbine is especially suited for small rivers with weirs so far unexploited by hydropower plants. Turbine can be operated both is bulb or siphon layout. In special cases it can also be used for tidal power plants.
