Original Abstract

The supercapacitor (SC) degradation is analysed by energy cycling tests and calendar life tests, which are used since they address the real operating modes. The periodic characterization is applied to analyse the evolution of the SC parameters as DC capacitance, DC and AC series resistance (ESR). These parameters are determined before the ageing tests, and during 8e5 cycles of 100% continuous energy cycling, 75% continuous energy cycling, and 75% discontinuous energy cycling, respectively. Capacitance decrease and ESR increase in time during calendar life test were evaluated for 9000 hours of SC ageing. The models based on the analytical functions are proposed for the description of supercapacitor’s parameters evolution in time.
