Original Abstract

Weather may be important factor when traffic accident occurs, as it influences not only skid resistance of pavement, but also driving abilities of driver and vehicle. Paper presents measurement of driving speeds in selected locations with significant bendiness, measurements were done during different meteorological phenomena and different values of meteorological variables. During almost every measurement weather influence on driving speed was proven. Following analysis of necessary braking distance, which directly depends on driving speed and skid resistance, proved that drivers on wet pavement reduce driving speed well enough to lower breaking distance to values similar or smaller as braking distance during clear weather.
