Original Abstract

The apparent salt diffusion coefficient and the apparent moisture diffusivity are determined in the conditions of chloride-in-water solution uptake into dry specimens. The moisture diffusivity is also determined for the penetration of distilled water. It is observed that for chloride-in-water solution the apparent transport coefficients depend on time from the beginning of the experiment, contrary to the transport of distilled water. The observed differences are attributed to the fact than Cl and Na+ ions are adsorbed on the pore walls faster than water molecules.
