Original Abstract

Hydrogen Technologies are one of the future emerging technologies. Regarding its novelty, the overall public and academic awareness of its potential is thus limited. In the context of 21th century and information society development, the information and communication technologies are playing the internment role in dissemination of knowledge. Openness and interoperability are the key components of success in the newly develop open science/open agenda environment and activities such as Open Access to Scientific Publications or Open Data are becoming a common practise. Authors of this paper think that in the context mentioned above it has become a time for a use of these modern approaches also for the education and dissemination of knowledge in the new and very progressive area of hydrogen technologies. For that reason our contribution should present a project proposal for an activity in the field of cross-cutting issues. The proposal is based on the creation of open educational resource (commonly referred as OER) about hydrogen technologies using an open source platform to support the dissemination of contemporary knowledge about these technologies within the Central European context. The proposed course should be primarily focused on undergraduate students and interested general public with the aim of rising academic and public awareness about related topics. The course should be composed of 9 to 10 thematic modules about hydrogen technologies (hydrogen economy, hydrogen production, hydrogen storage etc.). The technical structure of the course should be composed of multimedia materials like videos, interactive animation etc. coupled with various tests and final grading as ordinary subject at university. In addition because of modularity approach towards the creation of this MOOC (Massive Open Online Course), there should be a possibility of use of all course materials also for general promotion of hydrogen technologies outside the course (from a legal point arranged by licencing the materials under so called public licenses). Eventually the modularity would also help to build upon this course in future (e.g. specialized courses). Modularity and Openness are thus the key enabling parameters for a successful impact of the proposed project. To foster an international character of the course, the main language of the course should be English but the course materials should be nationally localized e.g. by subtitles in videos. Other national localization references would be used where appropriate. Authors believe that this type of educational and promotional material is in full agreement with the section 7.5.4. of the national “Implementation Action Plan of Hydrogen Economy in the Czech Republic” and should fulfil the idea and direction of the plan regarding this activities.
