Original Abstract

Titanium dioxide nanotubes (TNTs) were fabricated by anodic oxidation of thin titanium film in organic electrolyte containing ammonium fluoride and water. In this work, the effects of preparation parameters, such as anodization potential, pH, water or ammonium fluoride content, on growth of short TNTs were observed. The chemical etching of initial oxide barrier layer plays a key role in obtaining highly ordered TNTs. The morphology of TNTs was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the photocurrent response of TiO2 nanostructured electrodes was also evaluated. These surfaces can be used in broad spectrum of application, mainly photocatalysis and solar cells, due to their mechanical, thermal and chemical stability.
