Original Abstract

The solid crust with animal teeth (Fig. 1) is part of an assemblage of artefacts found in the context of a triple burial (DV 13 – DV 15) (Klíma 1987 a,b,c; Klíma 1988). It was formed around part of the skull of the individual – a male skeleton labelled DV 13 (Fig. 2). Both the context of the find and the condition of the skeleton at the time of discovery were described by B. Klíma (1987a) as follows, “the skulls of all three buried individuals were coated on all sides in clay mixed with red powder dye. Especially in the frontal area of both males, the muddy coating formed a solid red crust, in whose surface fox and wolf teeth with suspension holes were fixed”.
