Original Abstract

Reinforced concrete is the worlds most widely used construction material and its service life in the ideal conditions is predicted for 100 years or more. Exposure of structures to the aggressive mediums from environment in various latent form leads to degradation of concrete and thus significant reduction of lifetime. Effects of aggressive substances on reinforced concrete structures has a negative impact not only on the concrete matrix, but also on the reinforcing steel. In the case of corrosion of steel reinforcement this is a crucial issue, because the case may be critical to destabilization of the construction work. The corrosion products severalfold increase its volume inside the concrete and create such stress which it can violated. This phenomenon can be reduced using primary prevent which is designed for the concrete conditions of construction site. One of the other ways to prevent the corrosion of steel reinforcement is the use of secondary protection of reinforced concrete structures using advanced technology of migrating corrosion inhibitors. Very often it is a transparent coating emulsions which contain active substances migrating through the concrete matrix to the reinforcement that protects creating a protective film on the surface and passivate the surrounding concrete. There are a number of products from reputable manufacturers that use this technology on the Czech market. The paper is focused on testing a number of selected materials whose effectiveness is evaluated using Ohm's methods of measurement of electrical resistance.
