Original Abstract

Recent advances in the formation and analytical characterization of nanostructured arrays of tungsten oxide columns, capsules and tubes, all made via so-called porousalumina- assisted anodizing of thin layers of tungsten [1], have inspired us to extend their functionalization and undertake systematic investigation of their behaviour as photoanode for electrochemical water oxidation and hydrogen generation in acidic aqueous conditions.
