Original Abstract

Internet multimedia conferences use typically the Real-time Transport Protocol and the accompanying Real Time Control Protocol (RTP/RTCP). RTP is used for the multimedia transmission and RTPC is used for the feedback control transmission. Today multimedia conferences face the protocol complexity problem. This problem can best be solved by focusing on conferences with one source for many receivers, i.e. Internet radio broadcast. The protocol stack is then much easier to implement. The paper deals with adopting RTP/RTCP to satisfy this kind of conferences. The SDL simulation model for implementing and evaluating the issues described is also proposed in the paper.
