Original Abstract

Heterogeneous welds are the integral part of most industries. The conditions for producing high quality joints do not include only the right choice of welding method, but also suitable choice of welding process and optimal welding parameters. The common examples are welds in energy industry, which are often characterized by different chemical composition and different physical properties (high alloyed austenitic, martensitic, ferritic and duplex steels). However, it carries the risk of formation of undesirable structures and defects. Suitable method for production of these heterogeneous welds is electron beam welding (EBW). Thanks to the precise control of all welding parameters can be managed the resulting structure and simultaneously reduced the number of defects present in weld. Resulting structure can be also affected by welding process, e.g. using EB for subsequent annealing of weld. In this work were performed four heterogeneous welds between advanced oxide dispersion strengthening steel MA956 and conventional steels 316Ti and X4CrNiMo16-5-1, which are vary in used EB parameters. Consequently were performed metallographic evaluation and microhardness measurement for determining the influence of parameters on the resulting structure and the presence of defects.
