Original Abstract

The aim of this article was to study of electroless nickel plating on the magnesium alloy AZ91 and a possible mechanism of this process. In the first step the optimization of the electroless nickel process was done. When the amount of reducing agent in the nickel bath was reduced to 50 %, ratio P/Ni in the coating decreased to about 25 %. Previous research in this field assumed monomolecular mechanism which corresponded to a first order reaction. All Ni-P coatings were analyzed by Energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy(EDS) at scanning electron microscope, micro-hardness test and inverted light microscope.
