Original Abstract

A method of trial-and-error is still very often used through a process of calibration of mathematical models. An exact method of parameters identification provides capabilities for making the process of calibration easier. The method is called inverse modelling. An application of quite a complicated mathematical inverse model has good results only if the researcher has some experience. A complete automated calibration procedure does not seem to be quite real. But this is a field that has to be developed both theoretically and practically. The paper deals with inverse model of earth dam breaching due to overtopping. The project goal is to estimate model parameters (coefficients indicating the erosion effect of the flow) for data obtaining from experimental dam breach modelling.
