Original Abstract

Aluminum powder is one of the major aerating agents used in the production of aerated concrete. In the normal production process about 0.1 – 0.5 kg.m-3 degreased aluminum powder is used for 1 m3 of concrete. For industrially used aluminum powder the main criterion is the amount and speed of evolution of gas which is determined by alkalinity or by alkali content. In the production of aerated concrete it is advantageous to add calcium oxide or sodium hydroxide. By adding them in the resulting mixture the temperature increases and ensures the best possible use of aluminum powder for the development of the expansion gas.
