Original Abstract

Dielectric barrier discharges (DBDs) are known to operate in two distinct modes. One is characterized by formation of large number of micro discharges. The second is more or less homogeneous in nature. These modes are generally defined in conditions with electrodes kept at the room temperature. In this work we present our investigation of temperature influence on the DBDs behaviour. We used the pure argon and mixture of argon with acetylene or methane for our investigation. The results show the different behaviour of the discharge in each half cycle of applied voltage. The low temperature discharge mode is more or less retained.
