Original Abstract

The material characteristics of wood which is common topic in civil engineering field could be affected by biological degradation and therefore it is usual to apply some protective methods. This paper deals with differences between treated and untreated Spruce and their influence on mechanical parameters, especially at the creep due to an applied bending moment. Treatment of Spruce was based on environmentally friendly supercritical carbon dioxide technology. The deflection of wooden beams has been recorded for a week period, in both bending and shearing type. The creep load was determined by 30 % of a found failure of different types of the samples. The study has shown that the treated Spruce had a higher failure load, probably as a result of a higher density, but the creep properties were found to be more or less the same for treated and untreated Spruce.

Keywords
