Original Abstract

The paper summarizes investigations of the performance of a solar air heating system with latent heat thermal storage. A model of the heat storage unit with phase change materials was implemented as a TRNSYS type. The model was used for simulation of the operation of a solar air heating system with a day-cycle heat storage unit. The model can be used for simulations of various control strategies in case of solar air heating systems with latent heat storage units comprising compact storage modules. The model of the storage unit can also be used with other thermal systems using air as heat carrier fluid.
