Original Abstract

Behavior of concrete structures influenced by fire is still important and discussed topic worldwide. In European codes are mentioned few methods for determining fire resistance of concrete elements. These methods are simplified and are not applicable for arbitrary cross-sections of elements or for elements with insulation. To exclude mentioned disadvantages from calculation and make design of fire resistance more convenient it is important to understand processes proceeding in concrete during fire performance and reliably describe thermo-physical and thermo-chemical processes in concrete during heating. In this paper are briefly introduced disadvantages of using Eurocode. Further there is described physical model of concrete at elevated/high temperatures and all important processes like evaporation, dehydration and adsorption which have to be undertaken while creating mathematical models. Finally mathematical model is presented and concept of assessing load bearing capacity of concrete element exposed to fire is proposed.
