Original Abstract

Raising the switching speed of DC/DC converters leads to higher switching losses. Resonant mode power supplies minimize these losses at the cost of reduced output control possibilities. In this paper the use of a multiperiod modulation for the LLC resonant mode power supply is described. The proposed control approach enables very high switching frequency by ensuring a strict ZCS with near-to-zero switching losses over the whole output voltage range. Simulation results are included to describe the control principle. Pros and cons of the proposed control approach are discussed.
