Original Abstract

The paper deals with an experimental high-temperature device including an arc heater with an extended anode. The device was experimentally operated with various working gas (argon, nitrogen) in a wide range of flow rates. The main operational parameters of the arc heater and the high-temperature device as a whole are evaluated and given in figures in dependency on various parameters. General conclusions useful in the design of similar high-temperature devices are presented.
