Original Abstract

This paper deals with the localization in wireless networks. The mobile localization unit is designed, and tested in a real cellular network. During the urban experimental measurement the unit received localization data and sent them on a remote server. We post processed the received data and determined the units position according to the received signal power. The optimization-based adaptation of the multislope log-distance path loss model predicts the propagation distance from the received power. This approach gives an ambiguous position data, thus further optimiza-tion is applied. The precision depends on a number and a constellation of base stations. The lowest error was achieved with a triangular constellation and takes values around tens of meters.
