Original Abstract

A passive piecewise-linear function approximation circuit with current input and output is presented. The gain of the circuit is controlled by switching diodes. The breakpoints and slopes of its input-output characteristic are set by resistances. Relations for computation of these resistances are given. As an application of the proposed circuit, a triangle to sine wave shaper is shown. Computer simulation confirmed a good functionality of the circuit even at high frequencies.
