Original Abstract

A total response of digital filter consists of the response to input signal and the response to non-zero initial conditions [1, 2]. It is the effective calculation of filter response to initial conditions that can help us to choose an optimum structure of digital filter realization. A feature of robust realization structures is that the response to initial conditions does not much affect the total response. Such a robust structure is, for example, the lattice structure with two multipliers per section, which is used in modelling the human voice tract [9]. Proposed in the paper is an effective method of establishing the response to initial conditions from the signal flow graph, which gives the graphic representation of state space difference equations of the digital filter.
