Original Abstract

Last years, troubles with external surfaces of contact thermal insulating systems (further as ETICS = external thermal insulation composite systems) with algae occurrence, increases. The algae growth often occurs on insulated objects already in the first year after building completion which is hardly acceptable from the point of view of an investor. Algae growth causes both aesthetic degradation of an object appearance and also it signalizes high moisture load and decreases material durability of surface layers in connection with moisture. The paper is denoted to some aspects of algae occurrence on ETICS and summarizes basic knowledge of facade algae.
