Original Abstract

The paper deals with evaluating the various options for the qualitative parameters of lighting obtained from digital photography. Since digital photography is a sample of luminance distribution in the field of view, it is possible to evaluate minimally luminance distribution, for example, the average level of luminance, its maximum and minimum value, or histogram distribution of luminances. There is, however, complex analysis, such as the evaluation of disturbing glare using UGR method. This process requires information obtained from image not only about average background luminances, but also about dazzling sources, their size and position. Image processing for luminance measurement has been known for a long time, but up to now this method has not been accepted as objective measurement technique. The paper shows how much important information can be acquired from digital images and relatively cheap camera equipments with sufficient precision.
