Original Abstract
The paper describes a recently established laboratory at the Department of Telecommunications, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication, Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic. The laboratory is designed for students working on experimental parts of their diploma theses. Practical design, construction, measurement and computation are usually part of approximately 40 % of diploma projects in the master study specialization Communications and Informatics. The reason for establishing a separate laboratory was the students' requirement to be engaged in working on their diploma theses for some continuous time. Lectures are given to students working on their diploma projects. They include fundamentals of writing technical texts, computer aided processing of results, electrical standards, construction of electronic instruments, operating measuring instruments, etc.
