Original Abstract

At the Department of Telecommunications (BUT Brno) is an experimental ATM network made up of 2 active elements and connected to the university network. A better high-speed operation will enable further expansion and improvement of experimental network. The main research areas are: LAN emulation, voice over ATM, video over ATM, introduction and investigation of new services, cooperation between B-ISDN (ATM) and N-ISDN, optimizing and testing the multimedia ATM network possibilities, treating the delay and loss of cells, research and consequential incorporation of existing departmental facilities, connecting and interconnecting Fast Ethernet communications to ATM, etc. Attention will be paid to new ADSL technology for access networks.
