Original Abstract

In this paper, a new compression method of digitized audio signal is described. Similar to recent methods, the method uses the imperfection of human ear, which is simulated by a psychoacoustics model, to decrease the signal bit rate. The signal is divided into several frequency bands and each of them is separately quantized to a given number of bits and separately transferred. It is for decomposing as well as reconstructing the signal that the wavelet transform can be used.
