Original Abstract

A significant requirement for bridge structure designs consists in analyzing the influence of the structure on moving pedestrians with respect to their walking comfort. This paper deals with the calculation of the response of a suspended steel bridge structure for pedestrians and light vehicles to the influence of moving pedestrians. The responses of the structures without and with a tuned mass damper at a resonance excitation rising from an alternative pedestrian load are compared. The influence of the pedestrian motion on the bridge structure response is monitored.
