Original Abstract

A subsoil of a structure may be nodeled with various ways in the finite elements method. Winklerś subsoil is often used for models of foundation. Determination of elastic foundation parameters for FEM three-dimensional behavior of cooling tower structure, when substructures have not typical shapes as annular area., may be complicated. A partial axis-sym,etric model of the substructure and its subsoil was created for this problem. The model was loaded with gravity forces of the substructure, structures of columns, structure of cooling tower shell and structure of cooling system. The stiffness characteristics of the soil material for individual elements were changes as a standard imposes with base of various magnitude of vertical stress in the solved model of the subsoil. Program ANSYS was used for solving this problem. This solved settlement of the substructure was a base for compute characteristics of Winklers model.
