Original Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to determine changes in loading capacity and resistance of tow rope and track cable in uniaxial tension. These cables are exposed to damage by corrosion (NaCl and SO2). With regard to high rate of loading capacity of the cable (hundreds of kN) the thesis focuses on testing individual parts of the cable. Specifically, tensile test of rusted wires and analysis of material damage from the fractography aspect. Next, the paper deals with the design of the fixture for tensile test. In conclusion it describes the recommendation in terms of anticorrosion protection for steel ropes.
