Original Abstract

The possibilities of modeling in parametric 3D CAD systems are incomparable with drawing in 2D CAD systems. The greatest advantage for a designer is a perfect overview of the three-dimensional shape of a part in the entire course of design, an easy modification of any part anytime and many other functions that are easily learned during designing thanks to the intuitive operation and tutorial-oriented help. The purpose of this work is to show that the goal of the CAD system studies shouldn't be based in knowledge and skill acquiring connected with particular programs but especially in understanding the basic changes in thinking and methods used in product creation, i.e. shift to 3D modeling.
