Original Abstract

This paper is focused on the development and design of new laser driving and measuring system for precise stabilizing of optical power. Optical power produced by laser diode is unstable by several reasons. The main reason is biasing current of laser diode which can change optical power dramatically. Control system has to keep the same level of biasing current as the basic condition for precise stabilizing system. Second influence of optical power in laser diode is aging. With increasing age of laser diode is decreased optical power at the same level of biasing current. For elimination of this influence is together with laser diode encapsulate sensing photodiode which sensing emitting optical power. By this photodiode is possible to regulate precisely biasing current to eliminate influence of aging. The whole control system can be used in various type of measuring applications with laser diodes for instance measuring of distance, pressure and temperature. Control system allows precise driving of two different laser diodes independently for mutual calibration.
