Original Abstract

A great deal of current data transmission systems is not secured against possible monitoring and/or attack. In present use, classical phone lines or own data circuits are still engaged in multiple data collection. Due to its massive expansion in recent years, Internet network is becoming a new possibility of data transmission. Increasing availability of Internet provides good conditions for its application exactly in the measurement technology and multiple data collection. In contrast to the data circuits, where access to the transmission medium is quite complicated, Internet places have higher requirements of transmitted data security. This article deals with data security problems between terminal devices such as a tariff meter and exchange. The bestknown security techniques and their advantages and disadvantages are briefly described.
