Original Abstract

The free-space optical wireless links the PIN or the APD photodiodes are used. The choice of the suitable optical devices for the designed optical link depends on the link distance, link data rate and the link availability. Each of these devices has its advantages and disadvantages. For the reliability of the link the signal to noise ratio (SNR) should be considered as the most significant parameter. In the paper the calculation of SNR and the selection of the suitable photodiode are also shown.
