Original Abstract

An alternate approach to the static analysis based on the fuzzy set theory is presented in this paper. The uncertainty of input imperfections is modelled utilizing fuzzy numbers. The analysis of the load-carrying capacity of a hot-rolled steel member under compression is performed. Obtained load-carrying capacity of the member is a fuzzy number. The problem of unavailability of statistic (exclusively objective) information necessary for the probabilistic review of reliability is discussed.
