Original Abstract

This contribution deals with the application of interferometry at research on heating. The research investigates convection heat transfer using scale models of panel radiators, as well as temperature fields using scale models of rooms. In order to verify the results of the interferometric modelling of temperature fields in rooms, various temperature field measurements were carried out using thermocouples in a test room. The interferometric studies of convection heat transfer from panel radiators resulted in a set of parameter choices for the optimal design of radiators, so that they achieve maximum heat output. Interferometric modelling of the temperature fields in rooms, meanwhile, provided results that will help ensure the effective management of thermal comfort in living spaces. Comparison with measurements carried out by thermocouples in the test room shows dimensionless temperature profiles very similar across a wide range of Rayleigh numbers.
