Original Abstract

A time-domain equalizer (TEQ) is inserted in discrete multitone (DMT) receivers to impose channel shortening. Many algorithms have been developed to initialize this TEQ, but none of them really optimizes the bit rate. DMT equalization is typically done by means of a channel-shortening time domain equalizer (TEQ) and a one-tap frequency-domain equalizer per used tone. In this work the existing approaches to computing the coefficient of TEQ equalizer were analyzed. It is the FIR digital filter that minimizes the influence of the inter-symbol interference in the receiver. Based on the analysis we designed new algorithms SIRCH-CC (Shortening Impulse Response of Channel with Cyclic Convolution matrices).
