Original Abstract

This paper deals with the use of Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) structures as substrates in patch antenna configuration in order to mitigate the effect of the surface wave mode propagation. In our case, we design two-dimensional (2D) EBG substrate for some frequency band and obtain values of s12 parameters. Then we explain implementation of defect in EBG structure. We analyze substrate in CST Microwave Studio software and explain principle of integration EBG material and microstrip patch antenna.
