Original Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the fixation of ammonium ions from high-temperature fly ash, which is subsequently used in mixed binders. High-temperature fly ash from the plant was used in the experiment where the secondary flue gas denitrification methods had been implemented. Specifically the method of the selective non-catalytic reduction of DeNOx was used, from which ammonium ions are contained in the fly ash. The fixation of the ammonium ions from the high-temperature fly ash was performed by sodium hexanitrocobaltate(III). Sodium hexanitrocobaltate(III) was added into the fly ash in the aqueous solution before the fly ash was mixed with the cement. The study examines the influence of addition of cobalt(III) complex compound to fly ash, where the ammonium ions should have been incorporated into the complex structure, thereby the release of gaseous ammonia was different. The stability of the cobalt(III) complex was studied. The pH is increased by mixing the mixture of fly ash and cement with water. The effect of complex compound on the rate of hydration and mechanical properties of the mixed binders have been studied as well.
